Space exploration as worthwhile goal.

Buzz Aldrin thinks we should concentrate on establishing a settlement on Mars instead of just doing what other nations can do. I think I'm in favor in spite of the cost in money and time. Some think it is a waste of money and time, and that it has contributed nothing to the welfare of the people.

I think it is a worthwhile human endeavor than should not be discussed in the same context as basic food, clothing and shelter needs of the populace. Far too few people understand science well enough to begin to appreciate what space exploration and possible colonization of Mars could contribute to the future of mankind. Star Trek is not science. A space capsule is not like an automobile. How to keep the astronauts alive under outer space conditions needs to fascinate more people. How to bring that about?

Sonia Sotomayor

At the moment I am interested in whether or not Maria Sotomayor will be a Supreme Court Justice who interprets the law according to the Consititution, or according to her experiences as a latina. I think I would be less concerned about her opinions if I felt I understood President Obama's sociological and political intents better.

I think his comments about one's education, sex, life experiences, etc. are acceptable approaches to determining how one would interpret the Constitution.

What do you know, think, support, oppose...?

non-directional lateral thinking

I've long been interested in learning, whether that is about something new and different, or whether it is about the person, or people, presenting the learning opportunity. My intent in developing this blog is to seek opportunities to converse with others of a mindset which is consonant with my blog title. I feel that I learn best when I am able to consider how my beliefs, opinions and certainties are alike and different from those of others.

I don't really know where this is going to go. Mostly, I suspect, it will depend on how well I am able to contact the other people of like mindsets, and then how well we all contribute to the eclecticism and iconoclasticism which must result in some learning taking place by some of us.

At the moment I am interested in whether or not Maria Sotomayor will be a Supreme Court Justice who interprets the law according to the Consititution, or according to her experiences as a latina.

In another direction , Buzz Aldrin thinks we should concentrate on establishing a settlement on Mars instead of just doing what other nations can do. I think I'm in favor in spite of the cost in money and time.

I think stringent laws need to be passed and enforced that limits the behavior of the paparrazzi.

We are concerned, rightly, imo, with the Islamic Fanatics that want to impose Islam, as described in the Qu'ran, on the world . Should we also look at extremists from other religions in the United States?

Why does it seem as though many of today's news reporters(?) focus on their hatred for someone or some particular grouping of people rather than on looking for solutions that benefit all?

Feel free to ask your questions and make your comments.
