Buzz Aldrin thinks we should concentrate on establishing a settlement on Mars instead of just doing what other nations can do. I think I'm in favor in spite of the cost in money and time. Some think it is a waste of money and time, and that it has contributed nothing to the welfare of the people.
I think it is a worthwhile human endeavor than should not be discussed in the same context as basic food, clothing and shelter needs of the populace. Far too few people understand science well enough to begin to appreciate what space exploration and possible colonization of Mars could contribute to the future of mankind. Star Trek is not science. A space capsule is not like an automobile. How to keep the astronauts alive under outer space conditions needs to fascinate more people. How to bring that about?
